Southeast Asia, Indonesia, Borneo, ca. mid-20th century CE. A sword-like machete tool featuring a steel blade with a strong spine, single sharpened edge, and tapered tip. The wooden hilt is wrapped with finely braided and woven cane for a secure grip. Its lightweight sheath is carved from wood panels to hold the blade in an open-faced design, secured with braided cane and cotton cords for carrying. Size in sheath: 24.75" L x 2.25" W (62.9 cm x 5.7 cm); blade: 17.25" L x 1.3" W (43.8 cm x 3.3 cm)
